If you love Marty Robbins, then this album is an absolute must-have. Its an absolutely marvelous collection from an absolutely all-time, one-of-a-kind singer. There will never by another like Marty, and I'm just glad I was able to grow up on his music back in the 50's and 60's. Awesome -- thank you iTunes.

One disc of 20 songs simply isn't enough to cover all of Marty Robbins' great material. This one gives you the most bang for the buck- 50 tunes, with a nice emphasis on the cowboy songs. In addition to the standards you see on most every Marty best of (El Paso, Big Iron), you get often overlooked gems like San Angelo, Man Walks Among Us (absolutely gorgeous, contemplative song for all those animal lovers out there), Feleena (which tells Feleena's life story, leading up to, including, and after(!) those fateful events in El Paso in epic fashion), and Marty's great take on Ghost Riders in the Sky. There are a couple more I would have l would have liked to see on here (Five Brothers and Mr. Shorty), but overall they did a great job covering all Marty's musical moods. Of course, the entire Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs album is essential, too.

Mr. Robbins was a great singer when I was a little kid. He always had songs on the radio. My dad turned me on to Marty Robbins. I've seen him in concert. He can sing a western song. He can sing a country song. He can just flat out SING.
