I found this band by accident as they are relatively unknown. No offense intended. This album has a similar feel to say an early In Flames album particularly The Jester Race. Overall, its pretty good. Good melodies. Good drumming. The vocals are an acquired taste--you either like it or you don't. But, if you aren't a fan of the vocals, I think that the quality of the rest of the music can still make this a good album to pick up.

This right here, is top quality american melo-death. yes american. I dont know where to start with this album because its great on so many levels. The melodies that the guitarist put into this masterpiece is unbelievable. The melodies that these guys write are the melodies of angels. Inteligent melodies, brutal guitar riffs, and skull pounding (not crushing) drumming and a vocalist able to miscarriage a pregnant woman with his voice. (he has a brutal beard too). are these guys comparible to dark tranquility or in flames? probably. to conclude my review i will say that this album and their new album "Riders of the Plague" belongs in any type of metal listeners collection. i cant wait for these guys to make more albums
Brutal

This disc gets better every time I hear it! Their style is similar to that of Darkest Hour, the vocals remind me of Unearth. The leads are very distinct and stand out on amost every song! The drumming is relentless..and VERY profound! This band is very talented, as they have released 2 very strong discs. If you are contemplating whether or not to buy this disc....fear no more....buy both of them....you will not be disappointed!

Contrary to their obvious underground reputation, The Absense have created a true metallic diamond in the rough. By combining an eerie atmosphere with brutal death metal aggression, this band has created a modern day Frankenstein. As brutally crushing as it is beautiful and eloquent, this album could change your entire outlook on the genre of metal. If your a guitarist, this is a must have. Peter Joseph and Patrick Pentavalle are true guitar visionaries. Harmonizing so perfectly, creating such a gorgeous atmosphere for Jaime Stewart to scream over. Beautifully constructed metal for metal's sake.
Just Buy It!!!

I've been listening to Maiden, Megadeth, and At the Gates alot lately, so I was bumbling around on iTunes and found this gem. If you are a sucker for twin guitar harmonies and epic songs, look no further. If you would told me this was Carcass's Heartwork 2, I would have believed you. I can't see why these folks are more popular!
