About R.E.M.

R.E.M. were an American alternative rock band from Athens, Georgia, formed in 1980 by drummer Bill Berry, guitarist Peter Buck, bassist/backing vocalist Mike Mills, and lead vocalist Michael Stipe. One of the first alternative rock bands, R.E.M. was noted for Buck's ringing, arpeggiated guitar style, Stipe's distinctive vocal quality and obscure lyrics, Mills's melodic basslines and backing vocals, and Berry's tight, economical style of drumming. This band defined my high school and college years. What a perfect collection of tunes from arguably the greatest alternative band of all time. There is the perfect mix of all their early records and hits on this album. The only other song I would download to add to this would be,"Voice of Harold." In my mind their greatest song next to the iconic, "The one I love."

REM is one of those bands where I find it difficult to not enjoy anything they do. Every song is just so good to listen to. Life's Rich Pagent is their finest.....
