  • One of his best

If youre a fan of this guys stuff its a must have. The album is intertwined with a lot of personal themes and stories and is different in every characteristic from his other albums. Its all acoustic but at the same time every song is unique and catchy in its own way making the listerner engaged the whole time. Im excited for more of his familiar electric fuzzy garage rock hits that were so awesome in Lemons and Melted but this is a well needed and rewarding change of pace for Ty's music

Yes, this is not like any other Ty album to date, but don't let that scare you. This album is brilliant. Not much else to say except buy this.

To say someone is influenced by another artist sometimes connotes 'rip off' or 'artistic liberty'. Well perhaps in this case I hear too much Tyrannosaurus Rex as interpreted by Ty - but Marc Bolan was a great artist. This mostly acoustic release is so intensely soulful I wish it went on for another hour. He again shows his versatility, this time with minimal instrumentation, a little post production, and his truly beautiful singing voice. It is a breath of fresh air from this prolific rocker who at a young age has already recorded a lifetime of great material.

This album is an emotional journey with a backstory. If you look up Ty's NPR interview, he explains this album and where it comes from. If you can't appreciate how beautiful this work is, well, maybe you've had it all wrong to begin with. This is Ty Segall's masterpiece.

Wow! Ty Segall needs new advisors or confidants. He's gone from being one of today's most dynamic, creative artists to just another dude with a guitar aping 60's pre-electric Dylan & Neil Young. This album is a snoozfest, totally derivative and lumps him in with all of the other less talented artists who rehash 60's Surf Pop, Garage, & Folk to make a quick buck today. Following up his epic Twins with this sensitive guy pap was just a bad idea. Hopefully he'll stay true to himself and do what makes him extraordinary instead of aiming to be ordinary.

I am a huge fan of all of Ty Segall's work. This album is a nice change of pace and showcases his abilities as a songwriter.Don't get me wrong, I can't wait to hear him do more electric stuff again, but I'll still be happy to have this to listen to. I also recommend looking into some of his inspiration behind this album, it'll change the way you listen to it. I continue to be ecstatic I found this guy's music. He deserves all the acclaim in the world. Buy this album, and all of his other ones!
