About The Oppressed

The Oppressed is a Welsh Oi! band that formed in 1981 in Cardiff, Wales. Most of the musicians in the band's various lineups have been skinheads. The band was founded in 1981 in Cardiff (Wales) with brothers Russell and Ronnie Payne in the first line up, joined by his friends Gary Tier and Martin Brennan. Initially they took the name of Forced Oppression. In the meantime, there was another band called Insanity Squad, heir to Section 20, also formed by brothers Dom and Roddy Moreno, Vince King and Ed Fleming. Read more on Last.fm

Love the Oppressed and I love what they stand for. "We Don't Carry Flick Knives, We Don't carry lead. We Only carry hatchets To Bury in your heads" Wish more bands would sing about smashing nazi scum.

This artist is one of the best in my opinion and it all depends in your interest .if ur into sharp and the sort than this is for u but if ur not than go listen to skrewdriver. Don't let some one say what to listen to like the guy saying listen to crass I could tell him if u want to hear the truth listen to special duties. I think this is the best band ever and all I could say is that I recomend it.
  • left wing is the only kind of punk.

if it's right wing it's not about unadulterated, furious and free expression. the right co opted the skin head and Oi movement for it's message of conformity, nationaliasm and xenophobia. Oi Punk, Reggae, Soul whatever is left wing cause it belongs to the people and is about the people. oh yeah and this band is good.
  • its so typical...

...for nazi boneheads to classify anything anti-racist as "too left-wing" or "commie". The Oppressed were never "reds" or anything of the sort. Face it, the Trojans and anti-racists were here first. If nazi kids insist on wearing boots and braces at least come up with your own name for it and stop tainting the skinhead name. On to the Oppressed....great band, but most of this stuff is re-recorded material with a drum machine. Bleh! Good for the newer tracks, but to get the classic Oppressed try to find "Dead and Buried/Fatal Blow". Cheers!
  • good no matter what the politics!

    By bellmenrule OK?
Im neither Red nor racist. In fact Skrewdriver is one of my favorite bands. The Redskins are up there as well. So Im not really biased politically. The Oppressed play really good Oi/punk music period. Urban Soldiers, White Flag, Ultra Violence, Work Together are some of the best oi/punk songs written whether your a NAZI or SHARP or inbetween. If your a fan of early Skrewdriver, Combat 84, The Templars, Legion 88, Oxblood youll love this band, atleast their early years. Yes, Roddy Marino gives no respect to some great RAC bands, but still musically this band had it, you cant argue with that!
  • Great Skinhead Band

Trads and SHARPS are the only skinheads, all the rest are posers. I'm sure Roddy Moreno has already taken a dump on Ian Stuarts grave. Way to lead the fight against facism! Oppressed never say Die!
