About James Kochalka Superstar

Headed by the cartoonist and musician, James Kochalka, James Kochalka Superstar specializes in surreal pop music with sometimes zany, sometimes inspired lyrics. Though sometimes considered a joke band or comedy band, they became somewhat of an online sensation with "Monkey Vs. Robot," from a 1997 album by the same name. They struck again with "Hockey Monkey," from the same album, which became the theme song for the Fox show, "The Loop." Their 2006 album Read more on Last.fm

This album got me through a really rough time in my life. It oozes happiness and if you disagree then you have a heart colder than the corpse of Hitler!
  • How have so many hacks had access to this music?

Obviously if you're looking for 5 minute long arena rock ballads this isn't the album for you, just like if your idea of comics is Family Circus or Doonesbury American Elf isn't for you. Stay outta what you clearly don't get. James Kochalka is a Superstar. President Kochalka might be the best song ever written.

    By not you either
Until you know what your listening to and see the man for real, you just dont know. How can anyone write negative criticism on music when its all subjective. Didn't your mother teach you, "If you can't say something nice, Shut The F#%k Up!"
  • No need to rag on this guy

His cartoons are great and his music is not entirly unbearable. Hell, some of these tracks are actually good on there own merrits listen to "Peanutbutter & Jellyfish" or "Fifteen Teenage girls and tell me those aren't catchy. He's not great but he is pretty good.
  • his cartooning is way cooler

i LOOOOVE the american elf book. so, i was more than a little disappointed when i bought this album and found it so absolutely hard to listen to. sure, the sentiments expressed are interesting and hilarious, but why put them to music if the music is just gonna bite (like, hard) ? oh well, i shall continue to enjoy mr. Kochalka on a visual/mental level and not auditory. sorrry, James!
