Mark Lanegan is sooooooo painfully under appreciated it makes me downright mad. This album is full of incredible songs and one truly worth owning. Get it and tell your friends!
Blues Funeral Marks Best Work As A Solo Artist

This Album in its entirety is I believe his finest solo work followed by the excellent album Dust with Screaming Trees. The beautiful dark feel of the music and fine song writing are evident throughout this Masterpiece of an Album. This album never becomes mundane but continues to perk my interest throughout. Just buy the whole album.. You will not be disappointed..
The Dark Depths

Oh my. This album was tasty. The vast majority of the songs were original and catchy. Only a few were duds. This man has one of the greatest (if not THE greatest) voices ever. The songwriting is fresh, and as always, dark. Alain Johannes does a great job producing this album and constructing the sonic background over which The Grim Reaper (Mr. Lanegan) layers his words. Top notch!
Great all the way through

Perfect songs and music for Mark's voice. Tracks 1, 4, 6 , and 9 are favorites.

Someone's gonna be so very glad to get this for Christmas…this is one of his best, if not the best, work he's done. You'll not be disappointed.
This album is...

... a combination of Gothic meets Hank Williams. (Which are closely related, Lanegan shows how) Great subtle and not so subtle guitar work too. Perfection.

i....can't....stop...listening...to...this.....album...
I have been a fan of Mark Lanegan's voice since he stopped me in my tracks when he was part of Screaming Trees.....such powerful lyrics with that gritty voice..makes me shudder to hear him. Haven't heard a bad song from him, and even though Blues Funeral is a bit different...i find myself listening to Blues Funeral over and over. St. Louis elegy makes me shudder, Phantasmagoria Blues makes me melt, Gravediggers Song makes me want to talk in French to him, Riot in my House sends me to another place, Ode to Sad Disco makes me want to dance with him...you get the picture.....his voice is enough, whatever the song or genre...
Great

This is some real rich stuff, with that heavy blues undertone. I think I've listened to Leviathan a few dozen times, and it won't soon be escaping my playlists.
Church of Lanegan

Bow at the church of Mark Lanegan. This is an amazing album, I hear influences from side projects and the complex musical mind of Lanegan. Buy this, and then go all the way to the early Screaming Trees and buy from there. Along the way don't forget the side projects and solo stuff. Queens of the Stone Age, Mad Season....... HELLO
