About Lou Monte

Lou Monte, born Louis Scaglione on (April 2, 1917 – June 12, 1989), was an Italian-American singer best known for a number of best-selling, Italian-themed novelty records which he recorded for both RCA Records and Reprise Records in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Monte's first big hit came in 1954, with the release of his version of "Darktown Strutters' Ball." In 1962, Monte would release his first million-seller, "Pepino, the Italian Mouse."     At my dad's bakery he always plays Italian music. And as soon as you hear the first lines of this song come on it makes you feel like dancing. And aside from being a great upbeat song, the lyrics are funny, and even if you can't understand the Italian part, Lou Monte does a section of the song in "British". Lui e un molto bene cantante!

    When I listen to this it Feels like I'm at Nonna's making pasta for Sunday dinner like we did when I was little! GREAT song! PS for all you NY Mets fans out there this was a favorite that was played at Shea Stadium!
