About Midnight Oil

Midnight Oil are an alternative rock band formed in Sydney, Australia in 1976. The band originally formed as "Farm" in 1972. The band is best known for their political activism and environmentalism and their 1987 worldwide hit single "Beds Are Burning". For most of their career, the band consisted of Peter Garrett (vocals), Jim Moginie (guitar, keyboards), Martin Rotsey (guitar), Bones Hillman (bass, vocals) and Rob Hirst (drums).     Amazing comeback! Ever since "blue sky mining" they had been making ever worse albums. I used to be a huge Oils fan at 14 and honestly I wouldn't have bought any more albums from them if it hadn't been for the reviews. Golden Age and too much sunshine are almost at the level of the "peak" albums... Enjoy.

    Just when you thought Midnight Oil was done for at the close of the old millenium, they come out with an outstanding new album to start the new millenium. Capricornia is as good as anything they released in the 80's and 90's. If you liked Diesel and Dust, Blue Sky Mining, or Earth and Sun and Moon, you will love this album.
