Just cuz there's no screaming on this album doesn't mean you should completely disregard it. As for the guitar riffs, if the guitar was as awesome on this album as it was on Hours, then the amazing guitar on Hours wouldn't be appreciated as much. If that makes any sense. FFAF decided to let vocals come to the forefront for this album, and I don't really see a problem with that. I really don't see how you can find these songs "boring". Rise and Fall is a really good song, so I'd get the whole album if I were you. Worst track is probably On a Wire, but it's not a bad song by any means.

After owning this album for almost two years, its taken me some time to actually develop a strong enough opinion. It definatly has a more alternative rock feel to it compared to the post-hardcore of previous, and newer albums. This does not mean it is a bad album however. For the first few months, I was extremely dissappointed with this album, hoping it would have the same feel and agression of songs like on Hours. I thought that the songs were lacking depth, and that it seemed they just tried to make an album as quickly as they could. Time has allowed for growth, and thats exactly what this album has done. I find all the songs pleasurable to listen to, with favorites being The Diary, The Sweetest Wave, and Walk Away. The entire album is very good, after a few listens. Without this album, I also do not think that Memory and Humanity would be what it is because this "alternative" step was needed to mature the bands sound. Overall, this album is very good, but you need to listen through it a few times to appreciate the musicianship of FFAF. Highlights: The Diary One for the Road The Sweetest Wave Walk Away

I dont see why people like this album... It is a concept album people... they wanted to try something new and they did it perfect. I forget what magazine i saw a review in, but they said "its funny how funeral for a friend found their breath on an album about drowning at sea." There are so many great songs on here... "Walk Away" almost brings tears to my eyes, and the way that the 2 "All hands on deck" songs roll in to each other is awesome. I absolutely loved "Hours", but i think this album blows it out of the water (no pun intended). You can definetely feel that emotion was put in to writing and recording these songs.

This album has a couple of okay songs. I hate to say it but Funeral for a Friend has gotten progressively worse, Casually Dressed and Deep In Conversation was awesome, Hours was was very good almost great but a small step down. This album is a huge step down even from Hours, Funeral for A Friend has seemed to go more popish and less screamo in this album, and it hurts them, hopefully their next release will feature more screams and a general likeness to their older stuff. This album is a C- in my opinion.

Into Oblivion (Reunion) sounds sort of like angels and airwaves. One song I liked was All Hands on deck part 1, especially the violin and guitar part combined. Overall, their new album isn't quite as heavy as "Hours", but does have theme throughout the album.
