  • Beauty in the music

All I can say is do yourself a favor: watch the concert, listen to the concert. It’s important to know that the album has some songs that aren’t seen in the concert, but also the viewing material is incredible. Although it sounds similar at points to the previous Radical Action to Unseat the Hold of Monkey Mind, there is even further insanity. There’s more drumming action with the Mastelotto/Stacey/Harrison trio and Bill Rieflin was an excellent keyboardist, RIP. Jakko really grows on viewers and seeing Mel as a full timer is a delight. As always, Tony and Fripp are great. Two of the best moments are definitely Fracture and the second half of 21st Century Schizoid Man, where you get to watch Gavin Harrison’s insane solo and the rest of the band in awe at his improv. On a personal note, as a huge fan of Fripp’s solo work and the aspect of it being like a transition between eras, I’m very happy that Breathless made it onto this album, alongside Heroes from his David Bowie days.

This is the cat's whiskers. I've recently seen incarnations of Krim and, while I was a tad dubious of the excitement level, this concert blew all doubts away: This is a concumate Krim exeperience. You'd be remiss on not getting it.

The songs sound as fresh as they ever have, with incredible force and power in the performances. Easy Money, The Letters, Pictures of a City and the tracks from Lizard outdo the original versions. Starless and 21CSM are fantastic as usual. Fracture and the Meltdown/Radical Action II/Level Five sequence are highlights as well. Perhaps the best release so far from this line-up. A must-hear for any KC fan.

This is another stellar live album. Some new pieces of music not heard before. King Crimson has always had a neat live sound in Mexico.
