This album had really good potential. I remember when it first came out back in 1999. Just a year prior to that, there was a track from Mase called "I'm No Killer" which was FIRE!!! I thought the entire album would have sounded like "I'm No Killer" as (and I'm sure anyone who heard "I'm No Killer" would agree) that not only was the beat sick, but Mase's lyrics dramatically improved from Harlem World. The first single from Double Up was "Stay Out of My Way" which, in my opinion, was just as hot as "I'm No Killer" and the sampling of Madonna's "Justify My Love" on that track was hot as well. I brought "Double Up" when it came out, and was disappointed with the results! The Only HOT track is "Stay Out of My Way" followed by a distant second place "F#!* ME, F#!* YOU." Unfortunately, "I'm No Killer" is not on the album at all. (WHY MASE, WHY!?) Long story short, the album is NOT worth buying, but definitely download "Stay Out of My Way" and find "I'm No Killer" from other sources... although you will hear the classic DJ Clue ad libs throughout "I'm No Killer!" "Whoooeee!!! Clue... Clue... Clue..." LOL!

I liked this album more than Harlem World(though I also liked HW a lot). My favorite songs in the album are All I Ever Wanted, If You Want To Party, Do It Again, among others. These songs really stood out to me, and I feel like his rapping evolved/improved and that this album simply isn't given due credit... its actually not even given a chance. To like this album, give it a chance... it might grow on you. Welcome Back was actually one of my favorite albums overall. Not saying "you must like it", but I'm just one person with my own perspective on Double Up, and I strongly believe it is worth buying and I like it a lot.

i remember when it came out. it had a few good songs but wasnt a great album. he does have the two best songs he ever had on this album though. "Make me cry" and "Same N***as" are hip-hop classics. If you say no just because your a Mase hater then listen to the damn songs. You might be surprised.
