This is the album on the market. I could listen to it till I die.
  • Somewhat cold rendition, with strange tempi

St John is cold and calculated here. Nothing really feels to come from the heart. Technically it is not bad, however. The tempi tend to be too fast at times. The ensemble sounds like a good "pick-up" band and the recording quality is passable. The solo violin sonata is rather boring (very slow tempi at times) but the sound quality is somewhat better. I give it 3 stars.

This is amazing, and I'm not even that into classical music. There is just something about the violin that has the ability to reach the very core of you. Badly done, the sound of this instrument can grate on your nerves; but St. John can really play. Sometimes I feel that she's playing me instead of the violin. Some parts actually bring tears to my eyes. That she's playing Bach, I'm sure, goes a long way to help that particular effect.

It's a great concerto, because that way they play it. It seems like your actually playing the song yourself you actually get into it if you play violin you know what i mean. overall i like this CD and i'm going to buy it and hope they make more concerto CD's cause i know i will buy them.
