  • A Child's Christmas in Wales

I grew up listening to Dylan Thomas's own reading of A Child's Christmas in Wales on our local NPR affiliate every Christmas morning. I now live in a city where this is not played on Christmas morning, but I wanted my children to have the opportunity to grow up with the same tradition. We found a copy on cassette about 10 years ago but now we no longer have a cassette player, so I searched for it on iTunes. What a treasure these recordings are! Dylan Thomas was truly one of the great poetic voices. His reading of A Child's Christmas in Wales is lyrical and incomparable. But so too is his Do Not Go Gentle into that Good Night, and the lesser-known works featured here, as well. This is well worth the price. Highly recommended!

Growing up it was always a Christmas Eve tradition to listen to A Child's Christmas in Wales before going to bed. My family now gets together every December to listen to a reading of this piece. It's just not Christmas without Dylan Thomas!

I first was exposed to A Child's Christmas In Wales when I was in a 4th grade classroom and was wonderstruck. I have been listening to ever since and now I am an old man. Truly, one of the great poetic voices brings some of the most enchanting text to life in these rare twenty minutes.
