Nothing here really grabbed me. In fact, thought quite a few of the songs (dare I say) sucked. "Nearly Human" wasn't that great of an effort, not horrible, just average songwriting for Todd. But this saw Todd starting to slip "below" average on some of the songs. Can honestly say there is no track that is even close to being a standout. This, and Nearly Human, started a slide for Todd that I still don't think he has recovered from.

So I saw Todd for a split second on American Idol last season, and Randy Jackson comes out and he says (paraphrased) we have Todd Rundgren in the audience, a Rock legend with such hits as 'Hello, its me.' And here I am, thinking, are you kidding me? he's got 40 years of music and you haven't breathed a word of any of it. I saw Todd in concert this summer and all I can say is that you could buy any Todd album and you'd get more out of it than 99% of the pop fluff that is floating out there... 2nd Wind may arguably be a lesser album in the spectrum of Todd work, but know that tracks like Change Myself and Who's sorry now are vintage Todd. Todd's music has been a friend of mine since I was 12 (I'm 42) and while topping Healing, Accapella, and Liars will be difficult, I am forever grateful for the work of this man. 'If I have to be alone' is a tremendous track. You should buy this album and the other three I just mentioned. Todd is the man.

I was lucky enough to be in the audience at 2 of the live sessions for Second Wind and it was utterly amazing to watch the Maestro in action. He didn't allow us to applaud until the end of songs and he gave a signal as each song was recorded in it's entirety live - no editing - so it had to be perfect. The assembled band and back-up singers were amazing. Love so many of the tracks this - especially "Change Myself" and "Who's Sorry Now". Shandi Sinnamon, who I got to know years later, gives a chilling solo performance on the intro of "Love in Disguise". If you are a fan of Todd's, you must have this album. Thanks, itunes for finally making it available!
