About Funeral for a Friend

Funeral for a Friend is a post-hardcore band from Wales. They formed in 2001 as a sextet called January Thirst. This did not last long, and in 2002 Funeral for a Friend recorded their debut EP Between Order And Model with their original 6-piece line up. After having been together for just a few months, the band changed their line up and subsequently signed a deal with Warner Brothers records for whom they recorded their second EP Four Ways To Scream Your Name. The vocals, the lyrics, the the melodies and themes they portray the emotion of each song with are all powerful. Its rare to find bands that can maintain such an eerie yet warm feeling through the whole album. Nothing to dislike here.

This album does a great job of maintaining a dark feel to their music while keeping it very light. If that makes any sense at all. The only track I don't like that much is Bullet Theory. It's a shame that they threw in those terible yelling/talking vocals. Not the screaming, tha's great. The weird yelling thing going on in this song just bugs me. But the guitar on the song is great, anyway. Top tracks, from best to "worst": Red Is the New Black Novella Juneau Bend Your Arms to Look Like Wings Escape Artists Never Die BUY THIS ALBUM!

Awesome debut! It shows how much talent the band has. Stand out tracks are Rookie of the year, Bullet Theory, Jeanu, Your Revolution Is a Joke. Oh and check out their new song "wrench" it's somewhat a return to this style unlike their "Tales Don't Tell Themselves" release.
