We were among the lucky ones to experience The Zombies triumphant return to Boston this week (Colin got sick last month and had to cancel) They opened with "I Love You"; Did their Pop Hits, Covers & Medleys for the fisrt 1/2; Then returned for a spot-on performance of ALL of "Odyssey And Oracle", In Order, Never missing a beat! Rod gave narration’s to Zombies History and they climaxed with a rocking long jam on "Time Of The Season!"-Bravo!...by Grimmbo.
  • Wonderful Live Rendition of a Classic Album with Great Bonus Tracks

Having just seen the Zombies on tour performing a number of these tunes a few night ago, I was very excited to find this live album as a download (and at a very reasonable price!). Colin Blunstone and Rod Argent are both still in top form, and Colin is easily one of the best rock vocalists to emerge from the sixties (consider the competition for a moment). His voice has, if anything, grown stronger in the ensuing decades, as evidenced by the concert recorded here. Great bonus tracks, including a version of Argent's "Hold Your Head Up" that is much better (IMHO) than the original studio recording. Listen to the samples, buy it, enjoy it--and go see the band if they come to your area. We're blessed to have them around.

This set is an amazing recreation of an incredible LP, 40 years after its release. Trust me, this is an unqualified bargin from the most underrated band in rock history. Listen and be amazed.
  • The Perfect Acompaniment to "Odessey and Oracle"

With a perfect complementing backing set of musicians and singers (lets be honest, they cannot *quite* do it all themselves anymore), the original Zombies breeze through a magnificent set of Odessey and Oracle, with exceptional and primitive live cuts of "Changes", "Maybe After He's Gone", and two highlights of the night, "Hung Up On a Dream", and Chris White's "Butcher's Tale". The current singing skill of Colin Blunstone is easily as good as the final days of the Zombies, and that in itself makes this impossible to miss for true Zombies fans. The CD is often priced at about $25, making the download on iTunes seem like a bargain. Listen to the samples if you wish, but know that this is as good as it gets!

If you love this band, you need to buy this one. You'll enjoy it, I promise. A highlight for me was the band's perfect rendition of "Maybe After He's Gone." You can feel the heartbreak and hope in every line of this lovely tune. Blunstone's voice has held up well and I envy those lucky fans who got to see the surviving band members (with a little help) perform this album on stage for the first time. The second disc contains other Zombies favorites as well as three tracks from Blunstone's wonderful 1971 album, "One Year." If you are familiar with that album, the live versions offered here will thrill you. "Misty Roses" and "Her Song" broke my heart and made me smile at the same time.
