Guilty is the man for 2 reasons: 1, he knows exactly what his lane is. His comical, witty, and oft-overlooked punchlines reverberate in your brain perfectly. He is hilarious and ghetto as hell, humble and cocky, blunt and emotional at the very same time. His rhyme style is unlike any other and he reps the D (the city keepin hip-hop alive) harder than any other. It's a relief to hear an album with guest appearances on only 3 tracks. It shows Guilty's confidence in himself.
The 2nd reason why Guilty is the man is because he KNOWS HOW TO PICK A BEAT! "Ode To The Ghetto" contains a who's who of raw underground production talent from the likes of Madlib, Mr. Porter, Oh No, Black Milk, and of course the legend himself, J Dilla. Each producer's loops and samples sound like they came from the same crate of grimy records and it gives the album a great flow. Of course Dilla shines HARD on here with the masterpiece, "I Must Love You," but every producer does their part to give Guilty the sound he needs to make his voice excel.
I really can't pick any highlights. The only song thats not on the same caliber as the rest is the album-concluding posse cut "Almighty Dreadnaughtz."
Guilty truly gave a passionate and well-thought Ode To The Ghetto with this effort. He touches every aspect of the 'hood in some way, showing the emotion and psychology of it's residents.

First off, I started listening to Stones Throw artists...stumbled upon "Jungle Love" on J Dilla's "The Shining". Guilty Simpson's voice perfectly laced the track...i needed to find out more about this artist. I dug this album! His voice is so powerful, he makes me so turned on to hip hop. This album just works for me, "Get B*****s" is an absolute masterpeice.

now hip hop/rap isnt really my thing. Alternative, Indie, & Punk is. But this is really deep stuff. rap with good meaningful lyrics. not junk about being a player, pimp, hustler, calling ladies names and rediculous stuff like that. I am so buying this
hot album

i notice that every hater has some gay name like billygoat or some s... and 9 times out of ten don't know nothing about hip hop. And always states something about beats or lack there of or why this or that artest lacks lyerics or talks about guns and drugs too much. if you don't like it then why comment on it? with that being said the album is great! solid production, solid flow, and he has to be one of the most humble mcs i met. He treats his fans well and for one i think that this album will help him reach big things in the industry!
Why?!
