I’m more of a casual passerby when it comes to Linkin Park; I never mind it when they come on but I don’t really get into their music either. But there is no denying that Chester Bennington was a phenomenal frontman and a great vocalist, with his scratchy yet empathetic voice. Seven years after he offed himself, Mike Shinoda decided to bring the band back. Which now I will elaborate on each facet of how wrong this is: Bennington’s Replacement - hiring a controversial Scientologist person who not only defended convicted assaulter Danny Masterson but harassed the victim and their family is either obliviously idiotic or a deliberate attempt to gain more notice than if it were a less problematic person. Plus despite halfassed attempts to assure they weren’t out to overwrite Bennington’s legacy, she copies his style in a less refined manner and doesn’t carve an identity of her own, making for a mediocre karaoke experience. The Motivation - seven years gone, and Shinoda picked 2024 to reemerge Linkin Park. In a year where nu metal had a revival? Business savvy, but also exposes his blatant greed as why, if he truly cared about the band and the fans, he not bring it back two years ago or three? He’s capitalizing on the revival to get that extra dough, which shows on the album. The Material - after the soft pop of One More Light, LP reverts to their old nu metal style. But this time it sounds forced, hollow and superficial compared to such mighty hits like “Numb” and “Faint”. Signaling that it isn’t a desire to play together again or favor the faithful, but a cash-in, that this was made, and it’s frankly insulting to the band and its history. Ultimately, this album is a disgrace to LP and the impact they had years ago, and Shinoda shows how disrespectful he is to his late friend’s legacy and how greedy he truly is. For those saying that Bennington wasn’t an original member, that’s true, but you cannot undermine how he really symbolized the band and made it what it is. The fact his family is crying foul should signal that this is not a good revival, and that Shinoda is not a good person. On top of all of these moral issues, the album itself is flimsy fluff with no substance or muscle. From Zero is shameless in its digging up a dead horse to beat it, and is a great example of why some things should not last forever.

Linkin Park's legacy is being tarnished by this garbage. Scientologist woman lead singer who doesn't hold a torch to Chester. I have no problem with Linkin Park trying to make new music, but I do not understand the direction. They could have picked anyone else, but they picked one of the most controversial singers possible, and she isn't even that talented. Most of the songs are just Emily screaching. There is no passion, there is no emotion. Do better Mike.

I love this album, I never really loved the other albums like Hunting Party or One More Light, but this new era of LINKIN PARK is what I think is the best, and my first new favorite. no one can replace Chester, but Emily is probably the best replacement for this. Cut the Bridge, Heavy is the Crown and the Emptiness Machine are my 3 favorites, Two faced was pretty good too. to round it up, From Zero has some great songs, and some mid.
