It’s ok.

It’s not quite as novel and interesting as his first album, but I guess that’s inevitable. Sophomore albums are rarely better than their predecessors. Much more of a 70s vibe, the songs are still a good listen. Lions is really the only one I don’t like; seems like he tried to channel Deangelo and it doesn’t really work, in my opinion. The whole thing makes for great background music while you’re focusing on something else, but I can’t seem to listen to it as an album I pay close attention to.

He doesn’t even sound the same on this one. It is cookie cutter R&B. His previous work was unique yet with a flair of retro. This new effort sounds like the same as a dozen other modern R&B singers. Please return to your smooth delivery as demonstrated in your first album. You filled a unique niche that is still needed. Now that being said, two tracks on this album are absolutely incredible. Bad, Bad News and Beyond.

I'm confused how this isn't 5 stars. SUCH a strong album.
