I reviewed this album for the college newspaper when it first came out, been playing ever since. Utopia had Todd Rundgren at his best - Kasim Sulton, Roger Powell and John Wilcox were the perfect crew to be working with Todd. Just like Crazy Horse took Neil Young beyond where he could go himself, Utopia puts Todd Rundgren in a higher stratosphere. Oops, Wrong Planet was Utopia at its best.

The very peak of careers cannot do any wrong here, the best consistant album in its day, " rape of the young", "marriage of heaven and hell", "gangrene" and out with a bang with "love is the answer " completely stellar todd! and all the members are smoking hot on this one with "windows" being roger powells best song .This album is a most rembered classic of the seventies , it must be on the wrong planet cuz its too damm good! the best high school memories, like a sound track to my life. a golden effort never to be repeated.

This is the one album I couldn't find anywhere unless I paid a huge price. Finally my search is over and boy does it sound great. I always thought this was the best Utopia album and now I know it is! I really can't name a favorite as they are all good but I'll narrow it down to 3 songs. Trapped, Rape of the Young and Abandon City..The Martyr is a nice one too and Back on the Street...See what I mean? They don't make bands like this anymore!

This is a terrific album, it still sounds very fresh to my ears (and my age was in single digits when it was first released, so I've been listening for a long time, and my taste has grown more sophisticated!). That All Music review suggests this is Rundgren's "baby," and it certainly bears the hallmark of his unique sound and style, but I completely disagree that only his contributions work successfully. Best tracks for my money: Trapped, Back on the Street, The Martyr and My Angel. This remains my favorite Utopia album overall.

Absolutely great rock and roll and ballad album....Crazy Lady Blue,Trapped and My Angel are the best of the bunch, but the bunch is "all" good....
