I heard Shane Barnard once say after releasing his next album Psalms, "I stopped writing about myself (Rocks Won't Cry) and started writing about God". This album is different from much of their others in that it is Shane in college singing about his Christian growth. I think so many people identify with these songs because they went through similar emotions and struggles. Great guitar and vocals. You can hear Caleb Carruth and Shane Everett doing tight backup vocals. I still enjoy this album and recommend it.

I bought this album 10 years ago. I instantly loved it then and definitely overplayed it. Amazingly, I can still play it today and am not sick of a single song. This is Shane Barnard before they started over-producing his stuff in the studio (Shane & Shane). There are are wonderful harmonies on this album blended with acoustic guitar and incredible lyrics...a praise-filled and humbling experience! I have been trying, for years, to find an album like this one. Definitely, a 5-star experience. If I could pick favorites they would be Rocks Won't Cry, Breath of God, Glorified, and Prodigal but I love them all!

I knew this was good music before I knew what good music was. All these years later, it still has the inspiration it did when I heard it 10 years ago. Prodigal Me is one of the best songs I have ever heard. Period. Seriously, if you just get one song, get Prodigal Me. God Bless Shane and Shane, Shane and Caleb, and hopefully, Shane and Shane and Bethany.

Seriously, the live section is legit. Though, you may have a heart attack trying to keep up with the tempo on Ancient of Days (who does that song? and as well as they do?)!

This is one of those albums that I will cherish for all my life as the title to this review implies. No bells and whistles, just great guitar playing and pure voices. Although this is an older album, it is Shane Barnard's best album. I still love Shane and Shane, but I have been disappointed in the direction that they have taken. They have departed from the purity in this album and now tend to overproduce songs - which detracts from the beauty of their vocals and guitar playing. If you don't own this album you should, but you can't have mine.

Hey everyone, if I were allowed only one review, it would be for Shane and Shane's Rocks Won't Cry. I've been listening to this this CD since 2000. It's still refreshing. The musical talent is very good, some people mentioned his strumming ability, which is evident in every song. Shane and Shane strike a great balance between poetry and theology as well. "I fix my eyes on the author of my life, may I realize the glory far outweighs this simple life."
